The Link Road, playground, and market square development are among a number of issues relating to Kilcullen on the agenda for next Wednesday's meeting of the Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District, writes Brian Byrne.

Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer is asking for an update on the progress of acquiring the land for the first phase of the Link Road, from the Athy road to the Newbridge Road.

She also wants the Council to identify and commit to providing two bus shelters in Kilcullen, and also that the authority deals with the broken fence and overgrown area at the entrance to Grangemore Cottages in Brannockstown.

Cllr O'Dwyer is also asking that KCC works together with the residents and business in Kilcullen to ensure that the new Market Square development is designed in a way to be used in a 'shared/multi-purpose manner'.

Cllr Fiona McLoughlin Healy is asking the Council to provide an all-weather safe surface for the playground in Kilcullen, similar to that provided recently in Maynooth. She also wants an explanation of the criteria for selecting different playground surfaces.

Cllr McLoughlin Healy also wants the Council to provide an update on its efforts to provide Kilcullen with 'much-needed' bus shelters.

The meeting begins at 10am on Wednesday 17 July.
