Tom's gorilla family highly placed in photo competition
Local wildlife photographer Tom Horan got to 13th spot in a Wildlife World competition which attracted 1,800 entries from around the planet.
The picture was taken at Dublin Zoo and features 'Kafi and baby', which are critically endangered Western Lowland Gorillas.
The baby gorilla was just sixteen days old at the time of the photo, while first time mother Kafi was a twelve year old.
The contest was the 'Best Click of the Month' competition run by the magazine, and Tom has congratulated the 'inspirational' winners in what had been a 'phenomenally professional' entry cohort.
He also thanked the expert Wildlife World judges for their dedicated support, ongoing encouragement and welcome advice. They included renowned wildlife photographer Kaushik Vijayan, who travels the world to shoot his images.
