Punchestown gathering toasts absent friends

An annual gathering of Kilcullen friends in Fallons last night toasted those previously among their number who have passed on, writes Brian Byrne.

In what has become a Punchestown ritual, we picture Vivian Clarke, Ger Peacocke, Aidan Sherry, Niall Coleman and Vincent Berney. They were joined later by Michael Lamb, the real mayor; and Joe O'Neill.

Among those particularly remembered were the late Donal St Leger, who always came for Punchestown from New Jersey; and Jim Collins, who died last June.
