Bloomsday garden party for KWWSPCA
Geraldine and Tony Gahan will be opening their garden beside the River Liffey to the public in a Bloomsday party in aid of the KWWSPCA Shelter Fund, as part of Kilcullen 700.
The event will be on Sunday 16 June from 2pm-5pm.
Bloomsday is a commemoration and celebration of the life of Irish writer James Joyce, observed annually in Dublin and elsewhere on 16 June. This was the day his novel Ulysses is set in 1904, the date of his first outing with his wife-to-be, Nora Barnacle, and named after its protagonist Leopold Bloom.
It is believed to have been first celebrated in 1924.
