Banners, flowers on the bridge

The work on decorating the bridge for the month of June got under way this evening with the mounting of the two large banners knitted by the Suas Knitting Club, writes Brian Byrne.

Catherine Mulrennan was also renewing the flowers decoration on the two painted bicycles.

A full-on 'yarn bombing' of the bridge railings will be completed in time for the bank holiday weekend, for which the Suas members have been working steadily over recent months.

It's all part of the Kilcullen 700 celebrations, marking the 700th anniversary of the building of the first stone bridge in Kilcullen across the river by Maurice Jakis.
