Albert celebrates big birthday with national silver

‘Running in the family’ — Albert pictured with the trophy and with daughter Jackie, who also ran a great PB on the day.
Kilcullen man Albert Keenan ran the race of his life to finish second in last weekend's National 10K which was run as part of the Great Ireland Run 2019.

In wet and windy conditions Albert took silver in a fantastic time of 47.07. He had only the previous day turned a ‘big birthday’ and was running in the M70 category for the first time.

With eyes set on gold Albert ran a strong race but finished runner up to a regular Irish international, European and World medalist so was in very good company.

Albert now has his eyes set on a European medal of his own at the Euro championships in Venice, Italy, in September.

We would like to wish Albert a very happy birthday and all the best with his training over the summer months.
