Kilcullen to be asked for River Liffey stories
People of Kilcullen are to be asked to tell their stories about the River Liffey on video later this year, writes Brian Byrne.
This follows contact between Nessa Dunlea of the Kilcullen Heritage Group and the producers of a series of videos under the banner of River Liffey Stories, which were shown in Ballymore last Saturday.
The event was a collaboration between the Heritage Offices of Wicklow, Kildare and South Dublin County Councils with Bailey & Blake video productions.
The videos shown depicted different aspects of the Liffey, from its source in the Wicklow Mountains through its journey through Kildare and Dublin to the sea.
Themes explored included history, geology, flora, fauna and the people associated with the river.
Nessa announced the upcoming Kilcullen project at Tuesday's inaugural Kilcullen 700 talk on local history and heritage, given by historian Ger McCarthy on the Borrowes family.
