Suas knitters to 'yarn bomb' the bridge
The Suas Knitting Group in Kilcullen is to 'yarn bomb' the bridge this summer as part of the celebrations for the 700th anniversary of the first bridge at Kilcullen, writes Brian Byrne.
The target date is the June Bank Holiday weekend, which will coincide with a drive-through in Kilcullen of the 2019 Gordon Bennett Classic Car Rally.
At Monday's open meeting of the Kilcullen 700 organising group, Suas representatives said they'd had advice from Newbridge knitters who have already taken part in a number of yarn bombing initiatives.
They have also been collecting wool for the project, and said that they will welcome both any extra wool and new knitters for the projects. They are considering including a banner in wool with the design of the Kilcullen 700 logo.
The Suas group meets on Tuesday mornings in the Parish Centre, and donations of wool can be made there.
