Save date for Charlie McGettigan

If you're a fan of good old-fashioned ballads and intimate acoustic music, then maybe put a note in your calendar about the Charlie McGettigan gig in Naas on 9 February.

He'll be performing in the Arts Centre in McAuley Place, with special guest for the evening Sive.

Thought it seems a long time since his win with Paul Harrington in the 1994 Eurovision, performing Rock and Roll Kids written by Brendan Graham, McGettigan's musical career continues apace.

He's been at it a long time, starting out in the 1960s in a number of Donegal based rock bands before moving to Dublin and the then thriving folk scene.

A successful songwriter in his own right, his work has been performed by De Danann, Mary and Frances Black, Ray Lynam, Daniel O’Donnell, Sandy Kelly and Hal Ketchum to name but a few.

The McAuley Place gig promises to be nostalgic, pleasant, musical and very relaxing. Singing off at 7.30pm, tickets €15 from the venue or Jam Music, or ticketstop.ie.
