River Liffey Stories for Wetlands Day

A series of short videos about the River Liffey will be shown on Saturday 2 February in Ballymore, to mark World Wetlands Day, writes Brian Byrne.

Under the title 'River Liffey Stories', the event in The Bandhall in Ballymore is a collaboration between the Heritage Offices of Wicklow, Kildare and South Dublin County Councils with Bailey & Blake video productions.

The evening begins at 7pm, and while admission is free, space is limited and booking through Eventbrite is essential. The videos will show different aspects of the Liffey, from its source in the Wicklow Mountains through its journey through Kildare and Dublin to the sea.

Themes explored include history, geology, flora, fauna and the people associated with the river.

The films have been part-funded through the Creative Ireland Programme 2017-2022. They follow from an earlier heritage recording project funded by the local authorities and The Heritage Council.
