Conservation grants applications open
Applications are now open for conservation grants under the Built Heritage Investment Scheme 2019.
The grants are processed by Kildare County Council in association with the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht.
They are available for conservation projects for buildings contained on the Record of Protected Structures and in Architectural Conservation Areas within County Kildare.
Protected structures in Kilcullen include Bardons, the Credit Union original building (top), Liffeybank House (below) and Sunnyside House, among others.
The Built Heritage Investment Scheme 2019 will support small scale, labour intensive conservation projects. The minimum level of funding awarded will be €2,500, up to a maximum of €15,000 per application.
The Historic Structures Fund 2019 scheme replaces the Structures at Risk Scheme and offers funding in two streams.
Stream 1 offers grants from €15,000-€50,000 aimed at essential repairs and smaller capital works for the refurbishment and conservation of heritage structures
Stream 2 offers a smaller number of grants from €50,000 to €200,000 for larger enhancement, refurbishment or reuse projects involving heritage structures, where a clear community or public benefit is demonstrated.
Both schemes operate on a matched funding basis and all applications must be accompanied by a method statement.
Application forms, full details of both schemes and eligibility criteria are available from Kildare County Council's website.
Closing date is 4pm on 31 January 2019.
