Square to be closed this evening from 6pm
The market square in Kilcullen will be closed from 6pm this evening to facilitate tomorrow's Christmas Market, writes Brian Byrne.
No parking will be allowed in the square from 7pm this evening. The space will reopen on Saturday at 6pm, when all the stalls have been cleared.
There will be no impact on access to and from Riverside Manor, although drivers are asked to exercise extra caution as there will be more pedestrian traffic in the area through the day. Peak activity will include the setting up period from 8.30am tomorrow, the arrival of Santa with the Patrician School Band at midday, and during the music and switch-on of the Christmas lights coming up to 5pm.
Motorists driving through that part of Kilcullen are also asked to be extra careful, and there is likely to be more pedestrians than usual throughout the day, with a significant number of children expected to visit the Santa Grotto in the Heritage Centre.
The organisers of the Christmas Market have asked Kilculen residents to shop local this Christmas.
