Council say 'assessment' needed for lights problem

The provision of a filter light towards Mile Mill at the Hideout crossroads, for traffic coming from the Athy Road, 'will require a junction analysis', according to Kildare County Council, writes Brian Byrne.

This was the official response to Cllr Billy Hillis at yesterday's meeting of the Naas MD, who had requested the filter and other changes at the junction.

Such an assessment would also have to examine if there is 'adequate space to provide filter lanes/right turns or if land would need to be acquired'.

It wasn't said if such an assessment is going to me carried out.

ED NOTE: Given the fact that we have been highlighting the dangers at this junction for more than a decade, and that the Council had previously said it was looking at the matter, how come a new 'assessment' is now required? Or have they just been ignoring the previous requests?
