Revision of Tidy Towns working plan

Planting the Convent Garden, 2016; 'needs completion'.
Members of Kilcullen Community Action are to spend a couple of Saturday mornings walking areas of the town to revise the current working plan, writes Brian Byrne.

This was decided at the recent meeting of the group, following a discussion on what had been implemented since the plan was produced.

The plan has short, medium and long-term ambitions, and formed part of recent Tidy Towns written submissions to the national contest. During the discussion, Ray Kelly said he thought they were 'doing too much' at the moment.

"Maybe we should be pulling back a bit and focus on finishing some of the things we started earlier but need to be completed. The Nuns Garden, for instance."

He added that the Pinkeen Stream project had also been 'put on the long finger' recently, and also suggested that the group should get more directly involved with things like the Green Flag programmes in the schools.

The meeting agreed to Noel Clare's suggestion of a couple of 'brainstorming' walkabouts. "We certainly need more than one, because it takes time to walk and look at what's happening," he said.
