Ray to continue as KCA chair
Ray Kelly has agreed to remain on as chair of Kilcullen Community Action for another year, writes Brian Byrne.
At the AGM in early summer, after serving as chair for two years, he had said he was stepping down. But last evening he told the first autumn meeting of the group that he would stay until the next AGM, as there were no other nominations.
KCA minutes secretary Ann Cashman will take a vice-chair position to help deal with the workload.
Brigid Ryan, a new member of KCA, has taken up the position of treasurer. A new Company Secretary will be appointed and a new minutes secretary is also required.
The numbers now actively involved with KCA, which also looks after the Tidy Towns activities of the town, are at an all time high of 18, Ray noted. He welcomed new people who had joined in activities in recent times, and thanked everyone for the help during the summer, when the amount of work done had been 'exceptional'.
He read out a letter from Kieran and Joan Forde, who retired from KCA earlier this year after decades of involvement. The Fordes thanked everybody for their friendship during that time, and for the 'kind words' during the KCA's annual dinner during the summer.
