Conference for small retail businesses

A conference for small retailers taking place on Wednesday 26 September will focus on how they can position themselves among all the big players in the industry, writes Brian Byrne.

The County Kildare Retail Conference in the Osprey Hotel, Naas, is being organised by Local Enterprise Office Kildare in association with County Kildare Chamber.

Tickets for the event, which will include breakfast, are €50 per person and can be booked on the localenterprise@kildarecoco.ie. It will run from 7.30am until 1pm.

The keynote speaker is Alf Dunbar, retail consultant, whose theme is 'You Are the Difference for Owners, Managers, and Trainers customer service.

Other presentations will be made by David Fitzsimons, the CEO of Retail Excellence Ireland, on 'What's Happening in Retail Today - in Ireland and around the world'; digital consultant Noel Davidson in 'Increasing your business online'; and Jaqui McNabb, Head of Enterprise at LEO Kildare, on 'Financial Supports for Retail KIldare County Council, Trading Online, and Vouchers and Shop Fronts.

A strategy session on looking at how businesses fit into their marketplaces and how they then compete within that marketplace will be conducted by Keith Harford, consultant to Feargal Quinn's Retail Therapy TV programme.
