The Awards were organised by the area CES Supervisor Theresa Whelan, and the certificates were presented by Anne Bolger of the Department of Social Protection and the Mayor of Kildare, Cllr Sean Power.

Opening the event, Mayor Power spoke about the value of all learning opportunities through life and he commended those who had taken part in the scheme for working to further their own skills. "I know that in getting these awards tonight, people have seized an opportunity they were given, to help themselves," he said.

Certificates for the Plant Identification and Establishing Ornamental Flowers courses were awarded to Christopher Byrne, Daniel Byrne, John Duffy, Tom Hughes, Nigel Phillips, Joe Winders and Patrick Nolan. Billy Conway and Trevor Fitzpatrick were unable to be present for their certificates presentation in these courses.
