'Jimmy's Gig' — the fight against cancer goes on
Although Jimmy Aspell finally lost his battle against cancer since last year's annual Irish Cancer Society fundraiser in The Spout Bar, his memory lives on in the newly named 'Jimmy's Gig' event which again this year will be headlined by Brush Shiels on Friday 7 September, writes Brian Byrne.
Tony Kirwan, with whom Jimmy produced a special fundraising CD (above), will also be there, with the Mississippi Mud Rats, as will Barley and the Grapes Rag Band.
Others performing, under the direction of the night's MC Liam Kett, include Roisin McAlinden, The Misfits, and Jmac Acoustic.
The music starts at 9pm, admission €5, and donations will be made to the Michael Mullen Fund on the night.
