Generous support for Katie's GoFundMe campaign

A GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for recovery equipment for a disabled child in Avondale Drive is surging towards its target thanks to the generosity of local people, writes Brian Byrne.

Katie Fanning Coogan (10) has multiple problems including only one working lung, impaired vision and limited hearing, but the main issue of the moment is an upcoming spinal operation.

At her home Katie will need a special changing table, a wheelchair ramp, and further disabled access features. The GoFundMe campaign has a target of €1,500 for these, and as of this morning had achieved €1,131, thanks to donations from 35 people.

Katie is going for an MRI scan at the end of the month to check if any prior surgeries are required before the spinal operation.

Any additional funds raised in the campaign will go towards hospital transportation and things like her specially designed wheelchair and car seats.
