Arrests, vehicle seizures, at yesterday's combined checkpoint

There were two arrests for drink driving during yesterday's High Visibility Checkpoint on the M9 southbound near Kilcullen, writes Brian Byrne.

One of those arrested was driving an articulated truck. In all 561 motorists were checked for drink and drugs.

Eight vehicles were seized for insurance offences, and another for having excessively worn tyres. One of the vehicles was being driven under disqualification.

There were 38 fixed penalty notices issued for detected Road Traffic Offences.

The Checkpoint included gardai, social protection, and revenue officials. Of 102 vehicles checked, two were found to have green diesel in their tanks.

Department of Social Protection officials struck off two people from 82 checks carried out.
