Liam repeats a half-century win
The win by Liam Sherry of the Intermediate County Board Stroke Play Pitch & Putt title at the weekend is a great bookend to 50 years of playing for the St Bridget's chairman, writes Brian Byrne.
Because Liam also won that same title in 1968, and doing it again at the age of 77 is by any measure a magnificent achievement.
The game, hard fought with Ryston's John Kennedy that went to a play-off nine holes which also ended level, was taken by Liam in a sudden death closer.
The win will doubtless be suitably celebrated in a Club night tonight, 12 June, from 8pm. Also celebrating will be Ian Dillon, who won the Senior section of the competition.
