Big attendance at 'Life in the Liffey'
The weather and the curiosity of children (and their parents) made for a big turnout on the side of the Liffey this afternoon for the first of two Kildare Biodiversity Week events in Kilcullen writes Brian Byrne.
The now-annual 'Life in the Liffey' demonstrations organised by Dr Jan Baars provided an entertaining and educational afternoon for all, with the crayfish 'borrowed' from the river being a particularly favourite attraction.
There was the usual colourful quiz too, and a microscope to view some of the tinier creatures that populate our section of the river.
The next event here is on Tuesday, when a walk and talk about swifts will be presented by Wild Kildare between 7.30pm-9pm.
