Colour and fun at the Easter Market
There were a lot of elements that made today another special day with the first Easter Market in Kilcullen, writes Brian Byrne.
First, the weather, the sun came out and stayed out with a promise of spring waking up, albeit chilly in the shade.
Then the colour of flowers, craft-works, books, quality chocolate novelty items, clothing and more.
The sizzle of cooking burgers and sausages, and the aroma of fresh-brewed coffee ... the sound of music from the disco.
But most of all it was the people, those encouraged by Antoinette Buckley and her crew to bring their goods to the square, the many who came along to look and to buy and to generally enjoy the conviviality of the occasion, and the children whether dancing to the music or enjoying themselves in the Heritage Centre with the inimitable Mary Orford and the rest of her Easter bunnies.
All a rich mix of Kilcullen life and business brought together in advance of what we hope will be a quick end to the winterish weather and a promise of lazy hazy summer days ...
All the Diary's pictures are here.
