Getting the Pitch & Putt in trim

Despite the overnight snow, work was in train at St Bridget's Pitch & Putt Club this morning doing essential work in preparation for spring and summer, writes Noel Clare.

The ground work was being done by Community Employment workers who have been undergoing training on horticulture over the past month. They have prepared and planted three flower beds on the Pitch and Putt grounds which will bring a great splash of colour during the summer. One of the beds surrounds a memorial to the late John Talbot.

The Club have also just taken possession of a new grass cutting machine, thanks to funding which they secured from the Lotto Sports Capital Programme. The photograph shows Christy Sweeney handing over the keys of the new mower to Club Chairman Liam Sherry. Also in the picture are Dean Logan, Christy Hannon and Johnny Sweeney..
