Happenings

The River Cafe will be opening on Sunday mornings between now and Christmas. Breakfast and brunch will be available from 9.30am until 1pm.

Tickets are selling fast for the New Year's Eve Gala in Fallons, in aid of Teach na nDaoine. The €70 black tie event includes a gin reception, 6-course meal and wine, as well as music through the evening. Contact Fallons or any member of the Teach na nDaoine committee.

They're still finalising the figures, but Kilcullen GAA appear to have achieved their target of €40,000 from the recent Lip-Sync Challenge, which brought an audience of some 850 people to watch the ten teams compete in the final in Killashee House Hotel.

Country star Robert Mizzell is appearing at the Moat Theatre in Naas next Wednesday 8 November, for one night only. And if comedy is your bag, Alison Spittle (below) is there with her Worrier Princess show on Thursday 9th. She worries so much she's decided to do a show about it and now she can worry about making it a good show.

The next Storytelling Evening in An Tearmann has been set for Wednesday 15 November, featuring Dublin-based writer Brendan Nolan. Things kick off at 7.30pm, admission by €5 donation at the door, tea and buns served.

A concert in aid of the Jack & Jill Foundation will be held in the Town House Hotel in Naas on Friday 24 November. A Ray of Hope will feature the Big C Choir and Mile Mill-born musicians Pat and John Kelly. Tickets at €10 are available from Jack & Jill in Naas or Newbridge, or by calling 087 0547213.
