Kildare's Best Young Entrepreneur sought
Kildare's Local Enterprise Office is looking for the county's Best Young Entrepreneur, with a county prize fund of €50,000, writes Brian Byrne.
It's the local initiative for the national Ireland's Best Young Entrepreneur competition, which last year attracted more than 1,800 applications from around the country.
Of these, some 450 were supported through training, mentoring and direct financial assistance.
The age range for application is 18-35, and in the first instance anyone interested is urged to contact LEO Kildare.
At county level there are three categories — Best Business Idea, Best Start-Up and Best Established Business.
In November, around 450 of the applicants nationwide will be invited to 'Entrepreneur Bootcamps' to help them develop their ideas and businesses.
LEO Kildare will offer six prizes to local winners and runners-up in advance of the Regional Finals which will take place early next year.
These are worth €15,000 and €5,000 for the Best Start-Up and Best Established Business categories, and €7,000 and €3,000 for the Best Business Idea category.
Closing date for application is 29 September, and there is no cost for entry, which can be done online at www.ibye.ie. Further information from LEP Kildare, Aras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas West, Naas, Co Kildare; Phone: 045 980838.
