Badminton update

Kilcullen Badminton Club officially started its new season on Tuesday 5th of September in the newly floored Kilcullen Community Complex, writes Tara O'Neill. Club nights will take place every Tuesday and Thursday night from 9pm until 11pm in the Complex. As we are a competitive club, team selection will take place towards the end of September with competitions starting as early as October.

A big well done to Kat Logan and Sarah Walshe on winning the Division 5 Ladies event in Leinster Badminton’s first tournament of the season, ‘Kick Start’. Kat and Sarah also came head to head in the mixed final with respective partners Enda O’Neill and Vincent Coller. In the end Sarah and Vincent bagged the winners trophy in what I’m sure was an epic battle of the clubmates. Well done also to Ross Cole and partner Mike Condon on coming runners up in the Division 8/9 Mens, a great start to the season!

KBC are delighted to host the South West League and Cups ‘Shuttlefest’ in Kilcullen Community Complex once again this year. The popular graded tournament will take place on Saturday and Sunday the 16th and 17th of September. All are welcome to come and play and we look forward to seeing the great array of levels and abilities play some highly competitive badminton. If you would like to spectate come along and grab a tea and a delicious home-made treat from our pop up shop and enjoy watching some highly entertaining games which will run from morning to night on both days.

Finally, if you have played competitive badminton before and would like to get back into it again come along on a Tuesday or Thursday night from 9pm this month or contact Tara on 085 2980125 for more details.

I’d like to take this opportunity to wish Kilcullen Badminton Club and all of its members the very best of luck in all competitions and tournaments in the coming season.
