Third local rep for Brannoxtown NS Board
The imminent appointment of a third community representative to the Board of Brannoxtown National School will greatly increase the role of the community in the running of the school, writes Brian Byrne.
This follows the appointment of a new chairperson of the Board and another community member from the Parents Liaison Committee established after the recent public meetings on the future of the school.
In a statement this evening, the Liaison Committee says these changes were 'achieved in a very short time frame' and thanks the parents of the children and the residents of Brannockstown for their encouragement and support.
"Whilst there has been difficulty with enrolments for next term, the Department of Education have confirmed that the school will open in September with two teachers," the Committee says.
