A rockin' great night from the Gospel Choir

A truly rocking concert from Kilcullen Gospel Choir last night provided an awful lot of fun to a full house in the CPC Hall, writes Brian Byrne.

Founded in 2014 with Phionagh Gibson as Musical Director, the 50-strong group is now directed by Lorraine Nolan from Newbridge, one of the Three Newbridge Sopranos.

Special guest Joey Lee Lawlor and his Johnny Cash Tribute Show added a different tempo for the second half of the show. He obviously hit a chord with the audience, because at the times he asked them to join in, they responded enthusiastically, and knew all the words.

The proceeds of the show, in which everybody performed free, go towards the building of an orphanage in Zambia, where Lorraine Nolan and some friends are heading later this summer.
