Registration open for Leinster Loop cycle

The Leinster Loop Charity Cycle will take place this year on Sunday 13 August, with legendary Irish professional cyclist Stephen Roche as guest participant, writes Brian Byrne.

Based in St Laurence’s Community Complex in Narraghmore, the event will raise funds for Breast Cancer Research and St Laurence’s.

The full Loop will comprise a 130km course, while there will also be shorter courses — 90km Barrow Challenge and the 50km Cill Dara Cruise.

On the Saturday day before, there will be opportunity to take part in the 12km Roche Ramble or the 25km Local Loop. All route details, and entry fees, are here.

Tea and coffee will be provided before departure, while hot food, showers and leg massage will be available on return from the course.

The event has been running for the last five years. More than 1,700 cyclists took part last year, and €14,000 was presented to Breast Cancer Research. Tom Horan’s photographs from the event can be seen here.
