Hazel in list of 'Awesome Kildare Women'

Kilcullen's own Hazel Gaynor is listed this week as one of ten 'Awesome Kildare Women making waves around the World', writes Brian Byrne.

The best selling author is in the Leinster Leader list along with actress Aisling Bea, businesswoman Sonia Deasy, cyctic fibrosis activist Orla Tinsley, opera star Celine Byrne, jockey Katie Walsh, rugby player Jenny Murphy, boxer Dervla Duffy, addiction treatment pioneer Sr Consilia, and county arts officer Lucina Russel.

Hazel's first novel, The Girl Who Came Home, was also her first New York Times bestseller, and her most recent one, The Girl From The Savoy, was shortlisted for the Irish Book Awards 2016 Book of the Year. Her The Cottingley Secret is due for publication in the US in August.

She will be taking part in the Airfield Readers Day 'Mountains to Sea' book festival on Saturday 18 March, along with Carmel Harrington, and Fionnuala Kearney, discussing the ideas behind their latest books and the writing life with RTÉ’s Evelyn O’Rourke.

Hazel has also told us that there will be news of another book deal soon, so watch this space, as they say.
