'Kilcullen in Bloom' 2017 in train
The annual summer flowers project has been renamed 'Kilcullen in Bloom', and preparations are already under way to have a further enhanced spectacle from early summer, writes Brian Byrne.
At the meeting of Kilcullen Community Action earlier this week, James Byrne presented a mock-up of a brochure on the project which will be distributed to attract attention to and support for the scheme.
There will be an official launch night of the programme on a date yet to be decided, which would help to publicise the work and the support involved in the scheme.
KCA has decided that flowers should be in place by 3 May this year. A colour scheme and planting key for the 2017 flowers is being developed, and tenders will shortly be sent out for installation and securing the window boxes.
This year the scheme will be extended with hanging baskets on Hillside buildings.
A suggestion that there could be a Best Garden Competition run in conjunction with 'Kilcullen in Bloom' was deferred for further discussion.
Our pictures show some of the work and some of the results of previous summer flowers.
