Free dementia care workshop
A dementia care workshop will be held in Naas on Wednesday 14 September, organised by Home Instead Senior Care, writes Brian Byrne.
The Confidence to Care workshop will run from 7pm-9pm in the McAuley Place Arts and Culture Centre, Registration is required but there’s no charge for attendance. Details and registration form can be found here.
The vast majority of people with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia are cared for in their home by family caregivers. The Workshop will help them learn care approaches when helping with personal care activities, as well as understanding care approaches to help minimise behavioural symptoms.
Participants will also learn and role play starting conversations for effective communication with people with dementia, and also how to care for themselves so that they can remain successful family caregivers.
