Medieval Festival in Kildare
Kilcullen doesn’t have a River Festival this year, but maybe an alternative for local people is to visit Kildare Town’s Medieval Festival on Sunday 21 August.
This family fun day will feature archery and falconry, puppetry and street theatre, a food and craft market, and medieval games and activities.
There will also be walking tours of the historic town, and a performance of ancient Irish music in St Brigid’s Cathedral from 5-6pm on the day.
The event is supported by Kildare County Council and a number of local businesses, as well as sponsorship from Kildare Village and the Irish Walled Towns Network.
The main Festival runs from 12.30pm-6pm on the Sunday, but there is a linked event on the previous Saturday afternoon for children in Kildare Town Library. From 10am- 10:40am: Medieval Kildare Truly Terrible Tales (5-15yrs), and from 9:30am-12:30pm: Colouring in Medieval Letters. Booking for these events is recommended and can be done on 045 520 235 or kildarelib@kilarecoco.ie.
