Kilcullen totals four National CG medals
Last weekend saw the 2016 community games national finals draw to a close, writes Papillon Rabbitte. The finals drew record crowds over the two weekends with supporters and volunteers from around Ireland descending on Athlone to support their finalists.
This last weekend Kilcullen had a total of 12 competitors who represented their county in the U16 200m, U11 gymnastics, U10 mixed relay and U15 mixed relay team events.
Grace O' Toole (on the left above) secured a silver medal in the U16 200m final, running a spectacular race on Sunday to finish second. This brings Kilcullen's total to four National medals after the two weekends.
Despite the wet weekend there were some fantastic performances and we hope that all participants took away great memories of their time at the games. It is a wonderful achievement to reach this level of the competition, so well done to all competitors and congratulations to our medalists.
