Kildare Walking Festival starts today
Today kicks off the Kildare Walking Festival, which includes 13 free guided walk events across the County until 31 July, writes Brian Byrne.
A part of the Kildare Sports Partnership ‘Get Kildare Walking’ initiative supported by the HSE and Kildare County Council Parks Department, the programme offers a number of walks, each of around 5km, at locations which include Celbridge, Lullymore, Curragh Camp, Clane and Monasterevin.
A ‘2016 Grand Canal Challenge’ during the fortnight from Sunday July 17 offers an exploration of the Grand Canal is six stages of between 10km-13.5km. This series requires registration, which can be done by emailing the Kildare Sports Partnership ksp@kildarecoco.ie, logging on to kildaresp.ie, or phoning 045 980546/7.

All walks are conducted by trained walk leaders.
