Curragh Camp guided walk this evening

There’s a strong local interest in this evening’s featured event of the Kildare Walking Festival, writes Brian Byrne.

It’s a guided walk of the Curragh Camp and then on to Gibbet Rath for those with a mind to head back to the awful massacre there in 1798.

The Curragh Camp element will focus on the structures of the original military camp built in the late 1800s. It starts from the public car park opposite St Brigid’s Church and involves a stroll around of about 1km. The trek to Gibbet Rath will be about 5/6km in total.

The guide will be Mary, who can be contacted on 087 2358355. The event is free of charge and begins at 7.30pm.

Again, the full programme is available here.
