Henry Flanagan Memorial Concert
The Henry Flanagan memorial Concert will take place on Monday next, 30 May, as part of the Newbridge JuneFest 2016.
Majella Cahill and the Aquinas Singers will host the concert in the Dominican College Church, Newbridge, beginning at 8pm. A spectacular evening of choral music will include an organ recital by Professor Gerard Gillen (pictured), Titular Organist, Emeritus Professor of Maynooth University.
The format of the concert is similar to that of previous years with six choirs — each performing two pieces of music interspersed with organ masterpieces by Gerard Gillen.
Henry Flanagan was a renowned sculptor and musician and preacher (the piece at St Brigid’s Well in Kilcullen is one of his). This is a special year for Dominicans worldwide as they celebrate 800 years since the foundation of the order. Admission is free.
