Darkness Into Light vigil
Kilcullen Parish Church will be open from 4pm until midnight on Friday 6 May for a community vigil in support of the Darkness Into Light walk weekend in aid of Pieta House.
It is hoped the church will be illuminated with tea lights for the occasion, and everyone in the community is invited to come and light one of them and spend a quiet moment in reflection on those lost and those battling with depression.
Starting at 4.15am, and crossing the line just as dawn is breaking, the Darkness Into Light annual 5km walk/run, will celebrate its eighth year on Saturday, 7 May 2016, at over 100 venues across Ireland and beyond.
Registrations and donations directly to the cause can be made at the special Darkness Into Light website.
The County Kildare venue is again at Naas Racecourse, details here.
