Stock rustling warning

Following the attempted theft of ewes locally this morning, owners of stock are advised to keep a close eye on their animals, writes Brian Byrne.

The incident was at Old Kilcullen at 5.30am when two men in an SUV were seen trying to steal the ewes.

The gardai have been notified.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated matter, people using the Text Alert network have been urged to make sure the gardai have been contacted with the registration numbers of vehicles 'acting suspiciously' before such information is circulated on Text Alert. This follows an 'alert' circulated about a vehicle in Calverstown this morning, for which an 'innocent' notice had subsequently to be issued.
