Scoil Bhride celebrates Proclamation Day
As are all 3,000-plus schools across the country, Scoil Bhride this morning celebrated Proclamation Day with a ceremony and flag-raising at the school, writes Brian Byrne.
The historical background to the Rising was outlined by teachers Muiris O Raoghaill and Liam Donovan.
The day's events also include a lunchtime performance of a play based around 1916.
The Tricolour was raised by school pupil Jack Carroll, whose great-great grandfather, Peter Celestine McPartlin, fought as a member of the Hibernian Rifles in 1916. Jacks parents and grand-parents were guests at the school for the day.
We'll have a more expanded report later.
