Reminded of Sara Gottdiener
Listening to Ryan Tubridy talking with Auschwitz survivor Eva Schloss yesterday morning reminded me of an event in October 2007 when I happened to sit beside a similar woman on a flight from Israel to Frankfurt, writes Brian Byrne.
Sara Gottdiener was twelve when she was liberated from Bergen-Belsen camp. She'd been there a year, her family one of many thousands of Hungarian Jews sent to the camp for 'processing' under the Hitler grand plan to cleanse the world of 'undesirables'.
Here's my story from the encounter.
