New floodlights in operation
The new floodlights on the Kilcullen GAA pitch were switched on for their first practice session last night, writes Brian Byrne.
At a cost of €125,000 they represent a substantial part of the Club's Development Plan investment to date, but will open up the venue for both practice and winter games use.
The lights are powered by a diesel generator, which costs around €20 an hour to run, but that's just a fifth of the cost if they were powered by mains electricity.
The contractor for the entire lights contract was Seamus Byrne Electrical Ltd from Tinryland in Carlow. Planning and project management was by Murphy Design & Build Solutions Ltd.
