Canoe Club gets €18,000 Sports Capital grant

Kilcullen Canoe Club has been awarded €18,243 in the round of Sports Capital Funding announced today, writes Brian Byrne.

The money is part of €1.85m in funding for 29 projects across County Kildare. The amounts ranged from €1,051 to €185,667.

Some 26 applications from KIldare clubs were deemed to be invalid, while all valid applications from the county received grants, according to Deputy Martin Heydon.

"It is disappointing that so many applications are deemed to be invalid ," the Fine Gael deputy said, "but I will work with any club who needs assistance to find out why and help them to apply for further rounds. If any sports club has a query on their application, they can contact me on 087-6262546."

It's the third round of the Sports Capital funding since the programme was restarted in 2012, after being suspended since 2008.
