Biodiversity signage grant for KCA
Kilcullen Community Action has received a grant of €1,000 under the Local Agenda 21 Environmental Partnership Fund, for the provision of biodiversity signage, writes Brian Byrne.
The Fund, which has operated since 1997, promotes sustainable development by assisting small-scale environmental projects at local level. These projects involve partnership arrangements between local authorities and various local groups including community groups, schools and environmental NGOs.
The grant was made under the category Development of Community Areas including Wildlife and Biodiversity.
It's understood that the estimated cost of the signage is €1,500, and the grant being paid represents €500 each from Kildare County Council and the Environmental Fund.
Kilcullen Community Action commissioned a major Biodiversity Study of the Liffey area in Kilcullen in 2012 and the consequent Report was launched in 2013. The provision of signage resulting from the information gleaned in that Study has been an aim of KCA since.
