Badminton update
There are five matches to report on this week and we start with Orla and the Ladies 3 team who played Kildare in the Grade 6 Southwest League. In this their first league match away it was important for the girls to get something off the home side and they didn't disappoint taking a 4-0 victory. Well done to Orla, Meave, Dayna and Grace.
Martin and his Grade 3 mens team visited a well organised Kildare CWMS and in this close encounter the Kildare lads just came out the victors beating the KBC outfit 3-1. Hard luck to Martin, Vincent, Owen and Michael who in their first season together played a great match.
There were two home matches held in the complex Kilcullen on Friday 9 October where the Grade 4 Ladies B captained by Caroline and the Grade 4 Men captained by Enda hosted Ballinabranna and Kildare CWMS. Carolines Ladies put on a great show beating their opponents Ballinabranna 4-0 in an impressive display of badminton. Enda and his team however ground out a 2-2 draw in this their first league match against a good Kildare side. Well done to Caroline, Sarah, Bernie and Catherine and to Enda, John, Oisin and sub for the night Sean G on a good performance all round. Thanks also to Murt, gareth, michael, Sinead and all who gave up their Friday night to cheer us on.
The Grade 4 ladies A were also in action on Friday night, this time away to Kinnity in Co Offaly. Siobhan and the girls were determined to come away with something from this long journey and got a respectable 2-2 draw in a very very difficult venue. A great result for the KBC team and congrats to Siobhan, Chelsey, Tara and Kat on a solid away performance.
This week KBC teams will be involved in nine South West League matches with three being played away and six at home in the complex, all support is welcome and if you are lucky you might be treated to a cuppa and a sandwich! Our home matches this week will be played on Thursday and Friday night. Best of luck to all the teams in the coming week.
