Donations collection for refugees
Kilcullen Community Childcare Centre will be open today Sunday, 6 September from 11am-3pm to accept donations that are urgently required for refugees in Calais and beyond, writes Paula Phelan.
The donations will join a convoy which is leaving Ireland on 29 September and will stay for a week to work with groups in Calais.
The Dublin Calais Refugee Solidarity Facebook wall has listed the items that are urgently required.The organisation is urging supporters to donate in any way they can. Monetary donations will also be accepted to go towards travel costs to France and beyond.
Items needed: Trainers size 7-9; Hiking boots size 7-9; Wellies size 7-9; tents; jackets small and medium; travelling bags; socks (adult); candles; belts; tracksuit; trousers; blankets; jeans size 28-32; smartphones (with sim); sleeping bags; soap; shampoo; toothbrushes/toothpaste; plastic bags/strong refuse bags; woolen hats; underwear; pots.
Lower Priority needed: womens clothes and shoes; children's clothes and shoes; jumpers and sweaters; nappies/baby-wipes; feminine hygiene products.
