Constructive meeting on future of The Bridge
The possibility of a digital version of The Bridge, changes in distribution channels, and the positives and the negatives of the current magazine were all discussed at a very well attended meeting last night, writes Brian Byrne.
Those present included people who had been associated with the magazine, now in its 45th year, from its very early days, to a selection of residents new to the town in the last decade. A number of sports and other community organisations were represented.
The meeting had been called to set some pointers for the future direction of The Bridge, which — like many print publications — has seen a decline in sales despite Kilcullen having a larger population. Readership is currently 'steady' the meeting heard. Recent developments have included the introduction of regular full colour sections.
After a very constructive airing of opinion and ideas, a number of initiatives were decided on, and a target for the January 2016 issue set to implement improvements.
The Diary will have a more detailed report from the evening later.
