Classical music for babies, venue change

Please note that the event aimed at introducing babies to classical music, being organised by our local singer and singing teacher Philomena Breslin, has changed its venue, writes Brian Byrne.

Along with local musician Gese Mucke, pianist Clive Armstrong, oboist David Agnew, Denise Healy on the violin and Maria Keenan playing the flute, the first of a planned series will now take place at St Joseph's Church in Valleymount on Saturday 22 August.

The event will be held between 11am-12pm, with tickets at €15.

"Parents can relax while their baby or toddler absorb easy listening music in peaceful surroundings," says Philomena. "According to a study at the University of London, playing classical music to young children boosts their concentration and self-discipline, and they are also likely to appreciate a wider range of music in later years."
