Short Story Competition for June Fest 2015
Local writers might be interested in a Short Story & Poetry Competition being run in connection with Newbridge June Fest 2015, writes Brian Byrne.
It's open to people living or working in Kildare, or who are attending a writing group in the county, and the closing date for entries is 5 May, with a fee of €5 per entry. Any genre will be acceptable, but stories shouldn't be more than 750 words long. There's also a Poetry Competition, entries for which shouldn't be more than 40 lines.
Two entries €8 and the Competitions are limited to two entries per person.
Cheques are payable to Junefest Newbridge and entries can be posted or dropped in to Newbridge Library. All entries must be type written. Include a separate sheet with your name and contact details and the name of your story/ poem and your connection to Kildare if you live elsewhere. The pieces will be judged anonymously so please do not put your name on the entry itself. Please clearly mark the envelope Junefest Literary Miscellany.
Prizes are 1st €50, 2nd book vouchers for €30, 3rd book vouchers for €20 and the opportunity to read your entry at the Literary Miscellany event at the Literary Miscellany event on Wednesday 3 June. Those shortlisted will be contacted towards the end of May.
